About The Media Copilot
The Media Copilot examines how AI is changing media, journalism, and the news. When ChatGPT exploded into the public discourse in the fall of 2022, it was instantly apparent that the practice of journalism would be changed forever. A technology that allows anyone to create original articles, imagery, and more simply by typing a few commands has massive implications for any industry that deals in information or content creation, and the news business is all about both.
While machine-generated content has been used by large newsrooms for the better part of a decade, generative AI effectively brought the technology to anyone and everyone. Newsrooms and media companies have been racing to understand and implement generative AI ever since.
That’s where The Media Copilot comes in. Delivered three times a week, this newsletter zooms in on the ways media companies are considering and using AI, cutting through the hype — and the backlash — to honestly examine the promise and the peril of this transformative tech.
